My Dog is Crazy (and other ramblings about the July 4th weekend)

First of All, My Dog is Nuts. It's official. Finn is crazy. She's not crazy all the time. This phenomenon occurs only when she's around other dogs and at the dog park.
We spent the holiday weekend in Oklahoma City with my sister Adrian and her husband, Brett. They have an equally crazy Boston Terrier named Lexi. We never spent much time at their house when we had Brennan because he and Lexi did not get along very well. Let's just say that too many kisses on the face often pushed him over the top. Finn and Lexi have developed a different kind of relationship. They are good buddies. Finn "play bites" Lexi's legs, they wrestle, and they play for hours. Finn outweighs Lexi by more than thirty pounds, so it is funny to watch.
Not only did the two of them play at home, they also got to take a trip to the dog park. This is not just any dog park. It is a dog park on a lake, so there's a "lake" for the dogs to swim. I have never seen Finn swim, and she always avoids the plastic doggy pool at our dog park in Fort Worth, so I never expected her to go for a swim. Boy, was I wrong. I think it was an accident. A ball went flying into the water, and a group of dogs, mostly labs, went flying into the water. She followed. It took her a second to realize that she was going to have to swim. Her swimming style looks much like mine -- sloppy and inefficient, but it gets the job done. It was absolutely hilarious. If you want to see a short video of it, see the post below.
Needless to say, her craziness entertained me all weekend.
David's Birthday Celebration #2. We celebrated David's 30th birthday again this past weekend. Mindi and Jonathan, as well as Adrian and Brett, joined us at a restaurant called the Melting Pot. The Melting Pot is a fondue restaurant located in Bricktown in Oklahoma City. This place basically allows you to gorge yourself on unhealthy items in a three-hour eating marathon. First comes the cheese--lots of cheese. Everyone dips bread, veggies and apples in huge pots of cheese. Here's where you should stop. You've reached your daily calorie intake by the time your salad comes. But you eat your salad, anyway. Then, each couple gets a plate of all sorts of meats and veggies. You cook these and eat them. David really enjoyed this course, but all I did was look forward to the most important part of the meal -- dessert! Think dipping everything you can imagine into chocolate. We had tiramisu chocolate, chocolate/peanut butter mix, and praline chocolate. Yummy, yummy, yummy!
We had a fun and relaxing weekend with the Felders, and we'll spend this week trying to burn off all the calories from Friday night. I've posted a video below of Finn going crazy at the dog park. You can see our photos from the weekend, as well as all the videos from the weekend, by clicking on the link to our photo site in the top right corner of the blog.
