It's been raining, thundering and lightening all day long. I have enjoyed it today; David has been at a bike race and I spent all day doing chores around the house and taking it easy. Tomorrow I am running the Heels & Hills Half Marathon in Irving, Texas, which is about a 30-minute drive from Fort Worth. Apparently, I am in for a rainy day; I have never run a race in the rain, so this will be a new and exciting adventure for me. Irving (and Fort Worth) have a flash flood watch, and the forecast for tomorrow nearly guarantees some rain:
High 69 degrees
Wind NNW 11 mph (hey, at least it won't be windy!)
80% chance of thunderstorms, especially in the morning
Of course, if you keep up with the news, Irving is the place where the Dallas Cowboys practice stadium collapsed today. Apparently, wind gusts were up to 77 mph in Irving today; there are some reports that a tornado caused the collapse. Between the swine flu pandemic (not sure I would call it that, but that's what's all over the news, since they have to get us to watch somehow) that closed Fort Worth schools and the inclement weather, everyone around here is on edge, and it has been an interesting few days around here. I am hoping this doesn't mean that they will cancel the race tomorrow. I plan to be there, rain or shine, so I hope the race goes on!

Can't wait to hear how the race went! I've been wondering how y'all have been faring since I heard that FWISD closed.
ReplyDeleteWell...never mind! Just checked their website and saw where the race was canceled...
